Who are the Ogres
People call us a lot of stuff...mostly after asking what the heck a Clever Ogre is. Some of the more common (and family friendly) words used to describe us are: creative, first class, charismatic, on-time, awesome (yeah), helpful, professional (in public), and sociable. We just say we're ogres, we do advertising, website development, social media, copywriting, and branding - and leave it at that. Below you can find out a bit about each of us, as well as how to contact the ogres.
Christopher Davis
Our president and head ogre has more than 17 years experience in the design and advertising industry. While attending the University of Florida in the early 90s as an Electrical Engineering major, Christopher worked as a freelance graphic designer and learned such fun program languages as C, C++, Pascal, FORTRAN, Spice, and Visual Basic. These proved to be gateway drugs for HTML, CSS, ASP, JavaScript, and PHP (Languages that websites are written in). Discovering his true calling, he changed gears and now holds a Bachelors in Advertising with a minor in Studio Art from the University of West Florida. Through various company names over the years (Dovecot Graphics, Graphic Arts, Hansen Davis, Clever Ogre), Christopher has literally worked with thousands of global, national and regional corporations with clients as far away as Norway & Japan.
A unique ogre, Christopher combines right and left brain in one package (which can sometimes be confusing to even him). He is able to come up with a design idea from an aesthetic point of view, but also from the "can we actually do this" point of view. He is also known to be a little picky when it comes to typography.
When Christopher is not in his creative space, he is in the woods engaging in off-road cycling or training in the gym to be a better off-road cycler.
Chris Dadant
"Dadant" is a creative known for his exploratory imagination. An artist at heart, Chris is a designer with a passion for creative ideology and advertising. In 2006, Chris graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Art with an emphasis in Digital Media and Motion Graphics from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After moving to Florida, Chris decided to pursue his interest in advertising and in 2008 graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelors in Advertising. Chris joined Clever Ogre in late 2008 after an intense internship program under Creative Director Christopher Davis.
When Chris isn't in the creative factory, you can usually find him in the kitchen entertaining friends or on the beach soaking up the rays.
Dan Fugate
Dan has spent his life taking things apart, figuring out how they work and putting them back together; sometimes a bit differently. Now he does it with words and ideas. Dan holds a bachelor of business administration and a minor in art from the University of West Alabama and a master's of strategic communication and leadership from the University of West Florida. He has worked for communication companies, financial institutions, and a non-profit agency serving people with developmental disabilities. His love and true calling has always been writing and advertising.
When Dan isn't hanging in the Ogre cave, you can find him hanging out with his wife and sons, spending time with friends and family, writing or playing golf...badly. Earbuds are a constant accessory.
Nora Jones
As client liaison and a member of the Pensacola Young Professionals, she has the opportunity to do what she does best, be Nora. A knack for conversation, an open mind, and a creative soul make her perfect as an ogre. She graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Hospitality Recreation and Resort Management... not a far shot from what she's doing now.
She loves music and will catch a show any chance she gets. She's been to Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass, Mile High, DeLuna, Springfest, Hawkshaw, Bayfest, and various Live Oak Festivals. Her favorite band is Galactic, but the Punch Brothers are "creeping up with a close second." Jones is the glue that holds her family together and she's performing a similar role at Clever Ogre.
